This is an incident that took place about 10 years ago. I was a freshman in high school, and had begun experimenting with the Ouija Board with some friends.
Let me first give some background before I get into the good stuff. I was best friends with two girls, M and J. I had dated a guy, C, who after we broke up had dated J and was dating M at the time of the incident. (We were in high school!)
Anyway, M’s father had abused her earlier in her life, and C didn’t like it at all and had threatened to hurt her father. C had also been dabbling in the Dark Powers. How far he got, I’m not sure. M had been playing the Ouija Board by herself in her house, against the advice of her friends. That’s the background, it’s important to the retelling of this.
Before I go on, this is something that has scared me so bad, I was in therapy for years, and I’ve only told this to two people, save the therapist. I’m shaking now and I haven’t even gotten into it. So, here goes: J and I were spending the night at M’s house one Friday night. I don’t remember the date, but it was warming up, so I will say sometime in the spring of 1989. We had been talking all night and being silly as most high school girls do.
At 1:00 AM, exactly 1:00 AM, J and I stopped playing Atari (don’t laugh!). M had been napping and woke up abruptly as we turned off the Atari. She looked around and said, “He’s here.” J and I looked at each other and said, “Who?” She said, “C.” We’re thinking she’s still a little groggy from her nap, and we climbed up onto her daybed and sat next to her. M was on my left, I was in the middle, and J was on my right. M was looking intently into the living room.
Let me explain the layout of the house. It was small, with two bedrooms and two baths. The rooms were across a small hallway from each other, and the living room could be seen from M’s room. The house was shaped in sort of a box shape.
Anyway, M’s staring into the living room. J and I are starting to feel a little scared. We kept asking what she was staring at. She wouldn’t answer. Then a blue light flashed in the living room, then M’s room, then her parents’ room. At that moment, her father started to cough in his sleep. M got a very scared look on her face and said, “My dad NEVER coughs in his sleep.”
At that point, J and I were too scared to remark. We asked each other if we all saw the blue light. We all said yes. Then M said to the ceiling, “C, don’t hurt my dad.” At that time, M’s room started to glow with a faint blue light. M said, “C, protect them, I’m going to see what’s going on.” Now J and I were beginning to think that M was losing it, but again, we were too scared to remark, we just looked at each other. So then M went into a type of trance, leaving me and J to fend for ourselves. We did not say a word. We just sat, looking around the room wide-eyed.
M woke up and told me to close my eyes. I asked her why, and she yelled, “Just close them!” So I did. M then said, “J, look in the living room, at the plant.” J whispered something and passed out right on my shoulder! I asked what was going on, my eyes still closed. M whispered to be quiet and keep my eyes closed. I did, and started shaking J to wake her up. She woke up and asked what was going on. I told her I had no idea.
M said it was OK to open my eyes now, so I did. The light was starting to fade in the room, and M yelled out, “C, please don’t go!” The light got brighter. M went into another trance, and came out of it at exactly 4:00 AM. She said, “Everything’s OK now.” The light faded, and that was it. None of us slept that night.
The next morning, I asked M and J what they saw in the living room, and J said it was the outline of a face with horns and they could see red spots where the eyes should be. I don’t know why M wouldn’t let me see it, but I’m glad she didn’t.
I lost touch with M after high school, and I hear about J, my sister is friends with her sister. But we never spoke about that incident again to each other. This is the first time I put it in writing. I still don’t know what the blue light meant, I’ve never looked it up. I want to remain anonymous, so if anyone has any ideas, post it on the site, and I’ll find it. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
