Subject: Spirits in Bermuda
While on vacation in Bermuda during the summer of 95 my then girlfriend described two sightings that though I myself could not see, I will never forget and wholeheartedly believe. One occurred while in the hot tub of a very nice beach front resort. The name of the hotel I do not recall because we were staying at a friends house that lived on the island and worked for NASA. If any one is familiar with Bermuda the hotel was between The Swizzle Inn and the bridge to get to the airport. We were sitting in the hot tub, well after midnight, without another person to be seen or heard. I looked across the tub at my girlfriend and noticed that her head was laid back against the edge as anyone would in a state of true relaxation. The only problem with the picture was that her eyes were open wider than I ever thought possible by a human being. The girl looked terrified. She was intently staring at something over the ledge of the deck and thin wooden rails of the tub. I looked in the direction that held her gaze and saw nothing. At that point I started to laugh because Jen had a fantastic sense of humor and was always making silly faces so I really didn’t think much of her behavior at this point. She continued to stare and didn’t move so so I called her name. No movement. I said her name again and this time reached out for her under the water and put my hand on her leg. She then turned to me and uttered those famous words, “Did you see that?” To which I obviously replied, “See what?” She then proceeded to explain in great detail the face of a man that she could only describe as a “tribal hunter.” She said that his face was adorned with markings of color and scarification, and that she could not see him holding it, but there was a spear protruding up through the bushes like someone would hold a tall walking stick. As she is explaining this scene to me her eyes dart upwards and she moves her eyes head in an arcing motion from left to right. She then turns to me in amazement and states that she just saw this guy run and jump right over us. There was no way anyone could run and then jump that high/that far. She described it as though he was almost flying but his pose when going over us was that of someone running the hurdles. Since I’m out of room I’ll describe this next scene in a part two.

Subject: Bermuda part two
The second sighting occurred in a small park about 30 yards off the beach while sitting and leaning against a tree. In front of us was a small garden of trees maybe 10 feet tall with a spacing of 10 to 15 feet between each tree in all directions. It was four or five in the morning we had done dinner and the bars and the walk on the beach, now we were just taking it easy and enjoying the cool night air. Jen and I were leaning against this tree and our friends Dan and Nat were off somewhere on their own agenda. This story varies from the first in that what Jen would see tonight would absolutely scare her to death. The first sighting in the hot tub was more or less, for lack of a better word, “cool.” This sighting though scared me. I couldn’t see anything but because of the way Jen reacted you could probably see my heart beating through my shirt. All of the sudden while sitting there staring out into the trees talking about how great everything is she just freezes and stares for 60 or 90 seconds. A little before that I had noticed her looking in that direction quite a bit but didn’t think much of it. Then she leans forward staring into the trees and starts repeating, “Oh my God, Oh my God.” Then she just grabs my arm and starts pulling me away, back up the hill towards the parking lot where the moped is. She’s pulling my arm begging me to hurry and I start to feel this terror too because Jen is the kind of woman who can take care of herself and doesn’t scare easily. Once we thought someone was in our apartment and she proceeded to march upstairs with a baseball bat to smash this would be intruders head in. At this point she is so scared she leaves me runs to the moped and grabs her helmet which she proceeds to put on backwards. Now I do laugh and she is so scared she starts to laugh with me. You may too because this is what she was so frightened by. In the trees on the ground underneath one of them she saw a couple having a picnic. They were dressed in white, she said the whole scene seemed to glow. The clothing was older but from what time period she could not say. She got so freaked out, she later told me, because most of the time when she sees these “spirits” if she stares at them they will go away. Well she stared and stared and that’s exactly what they did back to her. She said she had the most unbearable feeling that if she did not get us out of there immediately that they would have made us leave, and I guess Jen wasn’t sticking around and see how they were going to do that.
