A few years ago I was living with four friends in a rather small college apartment. While nothing incredibly scary happened there were a number of strange occurences in the house that made all of us wonder. As my room was in the basement and I tended to be the last one up, I seemed to get more than my share of occurences. Whenever someone was sitting in the living room alone it always felt like someone else was watching from the adjoining room. All of us admitted to turning our head to gaze at the doorway as if someone was there. Additionally there were a number of times that tv’s or vcr’s turned on when no one was around or everyone wa asleep.

The strangest stories happened to me. One night I was up late, as usual, and had just turned off my light when I heard my door open. It seemed strange because everyone else had been asleep for 2-3 hours. Due to the L-shape of my room I couldn’t see my door from my bed, so I answered Yeah? No answer. When I turned on my light no one was there. The next day none of my roommates claimed to have been awake.

Another night I was again up late maybe 3 or 4 am. Again everyone else was asleep and all of the lights were off except my bedroom light. With my bedroom door open, the light from my room shines out into the hallway and casts a light on the wall next to the staircase. As I walked down the steps to go to bed I saw a shadow move across that patch of light. I frooze in my tracks. There was of course no one there. I let out a little laugh and tried to think of a rational explanation for that shadow. I have never found one.

Lastly, it was early Friday night and I was making myself dinner when two girls stopped by to see what I was doing that night. We were in the kitchen talking for a time when we heard a noise. I walked over to the adjoining bathroom to find the faucet running full bore. no one had been in there for at least half an hour. They quickly decided to leave.

We actually had a good time with “Casper”, and made it into a running joke. I’d be interested in talking to the new residents to see if they’ve had any encounters.
