I’m getting ready to retire from the US Air Force after 20 years of service. Several years ago, while I was stationed overseas at Sembach Air Base, Germany, my grandmother was involved in a very serious car accident in Omaha, Nebraska. In the car accident, her aorta was torn and it was a miracle in itself that she survived.

I knew she wasn’t doing well, so some skeptics can say that this was coincidence. However, I was driving home from work through the small villages on the way home, enjoying the drive as usual as I had a sports car and the drive is along some nice, windy roads. Listening to
music, as usual. Then all at once, as if someone had tapped me on the shoulder and told me, I knew my grandmother had passed. Absolutely knew it to the point that I pulled over, turned off the music, and just shook. Those that have never had something like that happen, or the skeptics, they just may never understand what a dramatic event this is.

Finally, after getting control of myself, I finished the drive home. Upon arrival, the phone was ringing and I answered it with, “Hi, Mom.” I told my Mother that my grandmother died at
1:15 PM their time and I was right. It doesn’t matter what anyone says, because it
happened. I spent a lot of time that night expecting a visit (which did not happen) and I spent time that night crying because I was touched. My grandmother visited me when she passed – I will carry that memory to the grave.
