One night I was sleeping in my bed at my mother’s house. At the time I was dreaming about eating a hamburger in a school cafeteria and across from me sat a lady, a school mate I guess. When I was about to take a bite out of the hamburger I felt three taps on the back of my head as if someone were using their finger to tap on my head. I turned around to find no one.

I remember thinking that maybe something was wrong in the “real” world so I awoke in a snap. Right after I snapped up in my bed I could feel the stinging on the back of my head from the taps in my dream. I then looked to my left and found noone, but I did observe a white milky substance float through the wall to my left. It could have been my eyes adjusting. I’m not sure.

About a month later my mom questioned me about the reason that I had been leaving my light on at night when I went to bed. I wanted to tell her that I had been falling asleep reading, but that wasn’t true. I decided to tell her the truth. I told her the whole story from beginning to end. By the time I was finished she looked at me with almost a stunned look. I asked her why she looked at me like that and she told me that her father (my grandfather) used to wake her and her brothers in just the same fashion, tapping their heads. I was no longer frightened, but I wish that he would say “hello” again.
